High Quality Steel Detailing & Production Engineering

Steel construction requires a complete and precise detailing project to transform design drawings and specifications into drawings, lists and CNC files that make fabrication and erection possible. For that, we develop a detailed 3D model, BIM (Building Information Modeling) comprising every single structural steel part of the project and from which we are able to produce:

  • ABM, Material Nesting & Purchasing.
  • Workshop and Assembly Drawings.
  • Erection and Anchor Bolts Drawings.
  • Bolt Lists for erection and purchasing.
  • Delivery Lists by lots according to erection sequence.
  • CNC files (Computer Numeric Controlled).
  • Data for production management software such: Fabtrol, StruMIS, etc.
  • BIM models (Tekla BIMSight®) & 3D PDF.

Our team’s expertise allows the early detection of problems, not only with clashes of steel members and bolts but also with constructability problems such as: welding and bolting access, excessive welding, erection problems, etc. These issues when detected in the early stages of the project have usually simple and cost effective solutions. Otherwise, it could lead to costly reworks that could compromise fabrication and erection schedules.

Structural and Connection Design

  • Calculations of welded or bolted connections as per AISC (ASD or LRFD), Eurocode 3 or CTE.
  • We use state of the art connection design software and have the capability to develop tailor made spreadsheets for specific requirements.
  • Steel structural design according to most up to date specifications, code and standards: Eurocode3, CTE & EAE, also as per USA code AISC & ASCE.

Cooperation with Structural Engineers

The development of the designs documents which faithfully reflect the model developed by the structural engineers, complying with the timing and cost demanded by the construction industry is becoming a greater challenge every day.

The multiple data exchange standards (SDNF, PDMS, Calma, etc), the increasing interoperability of software for structural design, connections design and Tekla Structures along with the cooperation at early stages allow us to offer solutions to a variety of problems.

Previous successful experiences demonstrate that it is possible to produce all the required design documents from the analysis model; with the additional benefit of minimizing errors on the interpretation of the information. Furthermore, a BIM will be immediately available. This BIM is useful to develop the steel detailing at a reduced cost and the result is an accurate reflection of the structural project as conceived by the Structural Engineer.
